According to the Smithsonian Institute's Buginfo there are currently 30 million living insect species.
Explanation:
The Institute also estimates that there are 10 quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000) that's a lot of bugs (and zeros)!
In the United States there are approximately 91,000 described species of bugs and another 73,000 species that have not yet been described.
