While the neuron of nerve has many parts, the three basic component parts of the nerve are the Cell Body, the Axon and the Receptors or Dendrites.
The Cell Body conducts all basic metabolic activities to maintain the cells functions.
The Axon acts as a transmission cable similar to an electric wire to conduct the nerve impulse from the receptors to the Dendrites.
The Receptors receive impulses from sensory organs, muscles glands or other nerves, while the dendrites pass information to sensory organs, muscles or other nerves.
