Copper sulfate crystallizes from aqueous solution as the pentahydrate, and will yield quite beautiful, blue macroscopic crystals. Take your copper salt, dissolve it water, and you can heat it up slightly if you like. Now filter this solution thru filter paper or glass wool into a clean flask. Stopper the flask, and place it in a refrigerator. Leave the flask undisturbed for a couple of days. You might get bricks out.
Filtration, which could be as simple as passing the solution thru a Pasteur pipette stoppered with glass wool and a bit of Celite, is absolutely necessary; so is patience. You also have to be lucky! Good luck.
