Golgi apparatus ( body ) is a series of membranes shaped like pancakes. This single membrane surrounds an area of fluid where complex molecules are stored and changed.
Explanation:
The Golgi apparatus processes several proteins which are received from the Endoplasmic reticulum. These are then sorted and transported to lysosomes, the plasma membrane or secretory granules.
In plant cells, complex polysaccharide are also synthesised in the Golgi apparatus.
The Golgi is thus involved in the processing of a broad range of cellular constituents that travel along the secretory pathway. Golgi apparatus is commuonly found in eukaryotic cells.
