Scientists had suggested that we need to limit our carbon release in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million (350 ppm). Only then could the effects on climate change could be reversed or controlled.

Unfortunately, we have crossed that limit and are currently at 400ppm, increasing 2ppm annually. The result is that global temperatures have already risen by 1 degree celcius. This has resulted in warming of the poles, acidification of the seas and death of corals, and the decline in the habitat for many species.
