Ribosomes on the RER help in protein synthesis.

Explanation:

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is the site of protein synthesis. Presence of ribosomes on the surface of ER make its ruogh appearance. The synthesized proteins are secreted to diferent destinations.
Actual sites of the protein synthsis is ribosomes. The polymerisation of long polypeptides chains are copleted on ribosomes.
