The reaction between marble chips and hydrochloride acid is given as: CaCO3+2HCl---> CaCl2+CO2+H2O (T=25C) What is effect on rate of reaction if: 1)Marble chips are replaced by grind marble 2) temperature is raised to 35C?

Reasonably, you would expect rate to increase in each scenario......

Explanation:

For #CaCO_3(s) + 2HCl(aq) rarr CaCl_2(s) + CO_2(g) + H_2O(l)#

This is an heterogeneous reaction; as far as we know the acid reacts on the SURFACE of the marble. If the marble chips are ground up, their particles size is reduced, and their surface area (and the rate) is increased.

On the other hand, an increase in temperature USUALLY elevates the rate. But you were the one who did the reaction. What did you observe?
