Bacterial transformation is one of the many ways of today to create recombinant DNA, in which genes from two different sources are combined together and placed into the same organism.

Explanation:

It's applications include -
1) To make multiple copies of DNA, a process called as DNA cloning.
2) To make large amounts of specific human proteins, for example human insulin that can be used to treat people with Type I diabetes.
3) To genetically modify a bacterium or other cell.

Bacterial transformation is a process where horizontal gene transfer of exogenous genetic material may be introduced into a bacterial cell.

It finds a wide use in the field of Medicine, where scientists have been able to artificially stimulate the bacteria to uptake certain chosen genes and then incorporate them into their genome.

Bioremediation is the utilisation of some types of transgenic bacteria and other microbes to decompose many forms of garbage and to break down petroleum products.
