An isotope is still an atom that has a given number of electrons and protons - it is simply the number of NEUTRONS that is different in an isotope (hence isotopes have the same atomic number but different relative atomic masses).
Ionisation of an atom concerns an atom changing it's relative charge and thus becomes an ion. For example; If an atom gains an electron it becomes an ion with a -1 charge. If an atom loses an electron it becomes an ion with a +1 charge.
