Explanation:
Volcanic island chains, such as the Pacific Ocean "Ring of Fire" form when multiple volcanic eruptions occur along the weak or thinner crustal region between tectonic plates.
Because the relative weakness that allows a volcanic eruption to occur is caused by the edge of a 'plate', the resultant land masses will also follow the shape of the underlying plate interfaces. These are often somewhat circular, creating island "arcs".
