Just thing about water, for example.

If water didn't change between the gas and liquid phase, things would be quite different... ...a lot of the rain that falls is from evaporation of sea water...sea water evaporates to a gas, then falls back to earth as fresh water. That's just one example...there are plenty more...think about it!
