Stoichiometry is the calculation/computation of quantities of reactants and products in chemical reactions.

This stems from the Law of Conservation of Mass wherein the total mass of reactants MUST be equal to the total mass of products, which is why it is terribly important to know how to balance equations as it would give you the idea of how much of the reactant/s you should use in order to produce the desired amount of the desired product.
