Yes sucrose is a carbohydrate.

Carbohydrate are made up of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen

They are classified as monosaccharides, olygosaccrides, and polysaccharides.

Monosacchrides - they are single unit
E.g. glucose and fructose (fruit sugar).

Olygosaccrides - they form 2-10 units when broken
E.g. sucrose ,lactose (milk sugar)

Polysaccharides - form more than 10 units when broken
E.g. starch

Subunit of carbohydrate is glucose which is the single unit or the smallest unit
So,when glucose units join and become complex units they form glycogen..
