Well, if you inspect your periodic table for a few minutes, you should find that lithium is the third element, i.e. with atomic number #3#.

Each element's atomic number, #Z#, indicates the number of protons in its nucleus. Therefore, lithium has three protons. What is lithium's electron configuration? What group is it in?
