Strong bases give solution that are stoichiometric in hydroxide ion.....

Explanation:

And thus a strong base such as #NaOH# or #KOH# dissolves in solution to give stoichiometric quantities of #HO^-# and #M^+#, i.e.

#KOH(s) stackrel(H_2O)rarr K^(+) + HO^-#

...the ions are aquated in solution.......

On the other hand, a weak base does not give stoichiometric quantities of hydroxide......

#CO_3^(2-) +H_2O(l) rightleftharpoons ""^(-)HCO_3 + HO^-#

....the equilibrium lies to the left........
