Are we allowed to add smileys in our answers? Or do we only want serious, straight forward ones?

Think of it like this.

Explanation:

As a general rule of thumb, it's always a good idea to try to avoid including things in your answers that can distract from learning, like personal signatures, contact information (facebook, stuff like that), or smileys, for example.

Now, with that being said, no one will stop you from adding a smiley face to your answer, as long as you try no to overdo it.

It's ok to have a " :) " at the end of the answer, or something like that, but if you start using smileys as a replacement for punctuation marks, then that is without question too much.

There a lot of Socratic answers that end with something like

I hope this helped! :)

and that's perfectly fine. If people want to add that to their answers, then by all means, they can do it.

As a personal opinion, I use smiley faces a lot, but 99% of the time I do so in the comments section.

The idea here is that as long as you keep answers "clean" and "balanced", you can add an occasional smiley face in there.
