It is a vector quantity. It can be calculated by using the formula:

  1. Here, f is the force acting that is causing rotation and d is nothing but the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation.
  2. Also, note that theta ( #theta# )is the angle between d and f.
  3. Finally, when you will calculate torque the final units in which you will write your numerical answer in will be the S.I unit of torque ie. Newton metre which is represented as Nm.
