The formula for the area of a triangle is

$A = \frac{1}{2} b h$

We know $h$ and $A$, so let's rearrange the formula and solve for A.

$2 A = b h$ or $b h = 2 A$

b = (2A)/h = ("2 × 48 in"^cancel(2))/(16 cancel("in")) = "6 in"
