# How do you factor 2x^2-6xy+2x completely.?

Feb 5, 2015

You first need to look and see if there is a greatest common factor of the coefficients. We notice that 2 will factor into our expression.

$2 \left({x}^{2} - 3 x y + x\right)$

Now look to see if there is a common variable we can factor out. We notice that the variable x is present in each term of our expression.

$2 x \left(x - 3 y + 1\right)$

This is as far as the expression will factor giving you the solution of

$2 x \left(x - 3 y + 1\right)$
