We use the sine function since side BC is opposite angle A.

By the definition, Sine function is the ratio of the opposite side to the hypotenuse of a right triangle.

Therefore,

$\sin A = \frac{B C}{A B}$

substituting the values

A = 35°  $A B = 15$

 sin 35° = (BC)/(15)

multiply both sides of the equation by 15
and using reflexive property of equality

BC = 15*sin 35°

$B C = 8.6$
