How do you find the magnitude of the horizontal and vertical components if the initial point is (-3,8) and the terminal point is (4, 10)?

Magnitude can be calculated using the distance formula. It is essentially the distance between the initial point and terminal point.

$m a g = \sqrt{{\left(4 - \left(- 3\right)\right)}^{2} + {\left(10 - 8\right)}^{2}} = \sqrt{49 + 4} = \sqrt{53}$

component form is found by essentially adding the x & y coordinates

$< \left(- 3 + 4\right) , \left(8 + 10\right) > = < 1 , 18 >$
