# How do you simplify fractions when you have decimals on the numerator?

Apr 9, 2016

Write decimal fraction as normal fraction and then simplify it.

#### Explanation:

If you have decimals on the numerator in a fraction, to simplify, first write decimal number in fraction.

For example if the fraction is $\frac{3.375}{12}$,

write it as $\frac{\frac{3375}{1000}}{12}$ i.e. $\frac{3375}{12000}$,

which can be simplified to

$\frac{3 \times 3 \times 3 \times 125}{3 \times 32 \times 125} = \frac{9}{32}$
