According to the pH scale, acidic substance has a pH range from 0 (strong acid) to 6.9 (weak acid). However, basic substances has a pH range from 7.1 (weak base) to 14 (strong base).

During a chemical reaction, acidic substances will release #H^+#(hydrogen) ions. However, basic substances will release #OH^-# (hydroxide) ions.
