We might naïvely think that we expire an equivalent quantity of carbon dioxide.....i.e. $\text{moles of dioxygen} \equiv \frac{32.0 \cdot g}{32.0 \cdot g \cdot m o {l}^{-} 1} = 1 \cdot m o l$, and thus $1.0 \cdot m o l \times 44.0 \cdot g \cdot m o {l}^{-} 1 = 44.0 \cdot g$ carbon dioxide expired........
