$f(x) - g(x) = 2x^(1/2) - 2x^3$

Just do the arithmetic:

$f(x) - g(x) = x^(1/2) - x - (2x^3 - x^(1/2) - x)$

$f(x) - g(x) = x^(1/2)- x - 2x^3 + x^(1/2) + x$

$f(x) - g(x) = 2x^(1/2) - 2x^3$
