They both CAN CONTAIN CARBON!

Explanation:

I know, this is something you might be wondering, like what?! But, it is possible. Take carbon dioxide or #CO_2# for example. It is widely considered to be inorganic but some people would say it is organic. Now, look at other organic compounds. They all have carbon and hydrogen in them. Some include ethanol #(C_2H_5OH)# in your wine and glucose #(C_6H_12O_6)# in your favorite candy bar.

As you can see, some molecules with carbon are still considered to be inorganic. So, I'd say that the major similarity between organic and inorganic compounds is that they both can contain carbon atoms.
