The earth catch sun energy in all the field of electromagnetic spectrum, but returns energy in the Infrared zone, hence, all the molecules which absorb radiation in IR field give greenhouse effect.

The first is water vapour that allow to the earth to be inhabited bringing the temperature from about -15°C to+15°C. The second greenhause gas is #CO_2# produced from combustion and respiration of plants and animals.

#CO_2# is grown a lot since the industrail revolution of the XVIII secle and specially now with the warm up of houses and the movement of cars.

The third is the methane that is produced from industrial processing, rice paddies, ruminant farming and waste dumps. Methane is less abundant than #CO_2# but 25 times worst.
