The trachea or windpipe divides into the two primary bronchi which enter each lung. These further divide and subdivide into smaller and smaller bronchi finally forming tiny tubes called bronchioles that end in alveloi (air sacs that facilitate oxygen transfer from the lungs into the pulmonary capillaries).
