What is below or above the earth in space? If we went a few light years below the earth would we find anything?

There are many stars and galaxies north and south of Earth.
Explanation:
Although most of our solar system's bodies lie close to being in a plane, this is not true of the rest of the universe. Even though the galaxy are relatively flat there it is thick enough that there are stars in all directions.
When you look up at the night sky you see stars in all directions. If you travel due south for 270 light years you will arrive at Sigma Octantis which is currently the star nearest to the south celestial pole.
