# What is the slope-intercept form of the line passing through  (-1, 4)  and  (-3, -5) ?

Dec 27, 2015

For this question it would be simplest to find the slope and then plug it into the point slope form

#### Explanation:

m =  (-5 - 4) / (-3 -( -1)
m = $- \frac{9}{-} 2$
m = $\frac{9}{2}$

Point slope form formula:

y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Say we pick the point (-1,4)

y - 4 = $\frac{9}{2}$(x - (-1))

y = $\frac{9}{2} x$ + $\frac{9}{2}$ + 4

y = $\frac{9}{2} x$ + $\frac{17}{2}$

Your slope intercept form equation is y = $\frac{9}{2} x$ + $\frac{17}{2}$
