What part of the body is affected by bronchitis?

1 Answer

Bronchitis is the inflammation of bronchi.

Explanation:

Trachea or the wind pipe, after entering into the chest, divides in two bronchi (singular bronchus). The bronchus will further divide into branches as each bronchus enters the lung of same side.

Inflammation of inner lining of bronchus causes narrowing of respiratory passage, hence breathing trouble is one of the symptoms of bronchitis.

Accumulation of mucus in bronchial tract also causes coughing.

In the following diagram, areas affected by diseases related to respiratory system are shown in different colours.
