What is the molality when 0.75 mol is dissolved in 2.50 L of solvent?

1 Answer

To answer this question we will assume that the solvent is water. The mass of the solvent will be 2.50kg.

NOTE: The density of water is 1g = 1mL

(2.50 L)/(1)x(1000 mL)/(1 L)x(1 g)/(1 mL)x(1 kg)/(1000g)= 2.50 kg

To calculate the molality we use the relationship-

(mol solute)/(kg solvent) = molality

(0.75 mol solute)/(2.50 kg solvent) = 0.30m
