How do biomes change with altitude?

1 Answer

It depends on the climate as well as if it's above or below sea level.

Since the higher you go up, the less oxygen that is available. However, since plants breathe #CO_2#, this is not really an issue for them. The biome (plants, trees, animals), usually changes due to the temperature. The higher up you go, the less plants. This obviously means less wildlife. This is because plants cannot effectively create new cells after the temperature falls below 7°C. So that being said, plants and wildlife (biomes) CAN adapt in harsher climates, but nolu to a certain degree.
