Is it possible to write an answer without the answer/explanation format? How?
1 Answer
Yes, of course.
Explanation:
The answer/explanation format is designed to help contributors write answers that are easier to follow.
Sometimes, starting the answer with a summary or with the solution (when dealing with math or science questions) can help a student navigate the explanation better. In a sense, the format is designed to ease students into the answer.
Now, it goes without saying that this is not a one-size-fits-all format and that it's very difficult to adapt some answers to this format.
In such cases, you can use the Answer Box as a way to introduce the explanation. You can use things like
- See below
- See explanation
- Answer below
- Here's my take on this
- There's no quick answer here
- Here's what's happening here
- Here's what I got
- Refer to the explanation
and so on. You can also leave the Answer box empty if you absolutely have to, but in most cases, an introduction like the ones I mentioned above works better.
Mind you, you can skip the answer part, but never the explanation part. Even if you can't find a way to complete the Answer box, the Explanation box should always contain some info.
Long story short, you don't have to go out of your way to use the answer/explanation format if a particular answer doesn't fit this model.
