Pharynx is common passage for food and air at the back of oral cavity. It is commonly called throat, where nasal cavity also ends. Thus there are two outlets of pharynx, one for food and other for air: these are respectively gullet and glottis. Gullet opens for food pipe, while glottis opens for wind pipe.
