Equation of the line joining #(x_1,y_1)# and #(x_2,y_2)# is given by

#(y-y_1)/(y_2-y_1)=(x-x_1)/(x_2-x_1)#

Hence equation of line joining #(5,7)# and #(6,8)# is

#(y-7)/(8-7)=(x-5)/(6-5)# or

#(y-7)/1=(x-5)/1# or

#y-7=x-5# or #y=x+2#
