What is (x+y)^2?

It is simply x^2 + 2xy + y^2.

To get this answer, you'd just need to separate this into (x+y)(x+y), and then foil it out.

You'd get x^2+xy+yx+y^2

Now since xy and yx are mathematically the same thing, we can combine them to make 2xy.

Hence the final answer is x^2 + 2xy + y^2.
