# What is electrophilic aromatic substitution?

Substitution of an aromatic molecule, typically benzene, ${C}_{6} {H}_{6}$.
${C}_{6} {H}_{6} + B {r}_{2} \rightarrow {C}_{6} {H}_{5} B r + H B r \ldots \ldots$
This is usually catalyzed by some Lewis-acid....Because $H B r$ is eliminated, the aromaticity of the ring is retained.
